Richard Falk and Chris Hedges on Confronting the Ruling Elite

Richard Falk joins Chris Hedges for a new episode of “On Contact.” Falk has denounced what he calls “the global legalization of rogue behavior embedded in the UN Charter” which vests a right of veto in the five permanent members of the Security Council, the only organ within the UN system with the authority to reach binding decisions.

  1. Richard Falk and Chris Hedges point out the moral and legal bankruptcy of the UN and the illegal wars they support .
There is zero reason why 5 nations have a veto and huge nations like India don’t.
Effectively it’s still White mans rules.

  2. “The U.N. is extremely important and effective on the symbolic level of politics, in determining legitimacy of behavior and illegitimacy, but it can’t implement its findings because the geopolitical forces can, if they’re activated- they can block it. They can block implementation.”

    -Dr. Richard A. Falk (2021)

At this point, why should we bother to entertain ANY argument in defense of the United Nations?

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good political symbol as much as the next person, but without substance the U.N. provides little more than a convenient blue talisman for receiving the collective hopeful chants and prayers of human aspiration… before they’re finally silenced for eternity by a bullet to the head.

Meanwhile, Biden’s new team spits out the same old Security Council vetoes as the previous six presidents, while our planet continues to be torn asunder by violent sociopaths with vast arsenals of violence, supplied by the EXACT same corporations so adept at escaping U.S. federal taxation.

I’m starting to think Pete Townshend figured this all out 50 YEARS AGO!

  3. Jim Hightower’s thinking three years ago, discussing those thugs millionaires and billionaires looking for a coup against FDR. Oh the irony

    American Liberty League pamphlets

But, much more detailed, who controls the world —

Abby Martin sits down with Peter Phillips, former director of Project Censored and professor of Political Sociology at Sonoma State University. His new book “Giants: The Global Power Elite” details the 17 transnational investment firms which control over $50 trillion in wealth—and how they are kept in power by their activists, facilitators and protectors.

  4. There is a reset button, it is called World Cataclysm. All we have to do is find it.
Money is without any doubt the root of all evil. In any market system where something of purported value is exchanged in quid-pro-quo arrangements, there will be greed, corruption etc., by those who wish to control the system, and its people.

Remove the value and crime, war, etc. go out the window.

    1. edcase,

I would argue that the LOVE OF MONEY “is without any doubt the root of all evil.”

Islam, Judaism, and Christianity all clearly reject the worship of Mammon… and yet here we are today.
