Hedges and Žižek, pt 2: Chronicles of a Time Lost

Chris Hedges continues his discussion with philosopher Slavoj Žižek about the social, political and psychological consequences of the prolonged lockdown, social distancing, and mass illness and death caused by the pandemic.

In On Contact with Chris Hedges, Chris Hedges continues his discussion with philosopher Slavoj Žižek about the social, political and psychological consequences of the prolonged lockdown, social distancing, and mass illness and death caused by the pandemic.

In his new book “Pandemic 2: Chronicles of a Time Lost,” Žižek argues the failure of global capitalism to cope with the pandemic presages, he fears, systems collapse, a dress rehearsal for a frightening form of authoritarianism where the world is starkly divided between the elites and the rest of us. “[T]he return to normality thus becomes the supreme psychotic gesture, the sign of collective madness,”” Žižek writes.

  1. Dear Chris Hedges,

Thank you for reporting on the pandemic with Professor, Slavoj Zizek.

I have been waiting to see what your analysis is of the global response and I am relieved to hear that you asked Professor Zizek about transhumanism ( specifically, Elon Musk’s neurolink and his unfortunate pigs. )

As a radical leftist, I am experiencing significant cognitive dissonance because I am finding that I actually agree more with libertarians and the Right regarding the disaster and surveillance capitalism exploiting the pandemic. As you have adeptly pointed out, it is the liberals and the left who are forming the figurative lynch mobs and doing corporate bidding.

Specifically, I have been keenly following the reporting of The Last American Vagabond, Whitney Webb and Alison McDowell.

Moreover, I have become an outcast and pariah in my postal depot for having had blown the whistle on my employer, Canada Post and the Vancouver Police Department for the warrantless search and seizure of my emails which had compromised my legal defence using an IMSI Catcher.

However, thanks in part to your ” ek pyrosis ” podcast…I was better prepared for my treatment.

I would like you to know that I feel certain that my employer, Canada Post has red flagged me because I have listened to so many of your speeches. In fact, I had been told repeatedly to, ” stop listening to that guy. ” I have been severely punished for thought crimes.

Canada Post monitors all of the online activity of its approximately
60,000 workers. I imagine it does this likely by using Palantir software.

I am certain of this monitoring because even though I am not on social media of any kind… I have been repeatedly suspended for my online privacy activism right after sending emails to Ryerson University’s Center For Free Expression’s Government Secrecy Awards, the BC Human Rights Tribunal, the BCCLA and Internet lawyer, Michael Geist.

Luckily, I both live and work in the NDP-held riding of Vancouver East and therefore, I feel certain that my Member of Parliament, Jenny Kwan is protecting me. I have written many emails to both Honourable Members, Jenny Kwan and Randall Garrison who is the NDP Critic of National Defence. ( The IMSI Catcher falls under the jurisdiction of National Defence. )

I have been deprived of due process, habeas corpus and access to the secret courts which are paid for by the taxpayers and yet which deny our access.

I feel certain that my complaint to the OPCC has resulted in a significant Charter challenge to Section 8 which, like your 4th Ammendment guarantees us the protection against unreasonable searches and seizures.

It helps that my criminology instructor, Rollie LaHaye from Mount Royal University influences and writes legal policy.

Thank you for suing Obama for wholesale surveillance/warrantless search and seizure ( and also, Section 1021 of the NDAA. )

    Angie Gurney

  2. For the first time in human history, the basic dynamic of human interaction is being fooled with. This is the first time because the serving technologies are there .. :

    1. One cloud
    2. A cell phone in every hand
    3. Exponential playouts of/prescribing certain forms of thought via subtle, supple and agile use of algorithms

We are being played like as if we were the kazoo section of a he-klutz’d morning after band.

The children are being enhavocked .. masks covering their little faces.

Our RNA is being embelched worse than Maude Rainey’s twat was on shrove Tuesday (s) .. Zizek and Hedges, congrats, I will try to listen the night .. at least you are thinking .. about .. it .. more than the totality if Florida/idians ..
