We have uncompromisingly covered Israel’s genocide in Gaza at a time when mainstream media shied away from such coverage or at times perpetuated false narratives. We held those in power accountable and produced stories and podcasts exposing such topics as the threat of nuclear war arising from the U.S. proxy war in Ukraine, weapons profiteering, labor exploitation, women’s rights and reproductive care, exploitative prison conditions, continuing of belligerence with China, uncomfortable history that is deliberately omitted from textbooks, and more. We prioritize human rights issues and politics that matter.
We subscribe to media critic AJ Liebling’s statement: “Freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one.” He believed that corporate owners had too great a hold on newspaper ownership. That was in 1960; it’s far worse today, and it’s not just newspapers but all media.
