In one of the scariest moments in modern history, we're doing our best at ScheerPost to pierce the fog of lies that conceal it but we need some help to pay our writers and staff. Please consider a tax-deductible donation.

In between two Common Dreams articles, they reported a tweet from Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen telling us what we already know: the time is now for Medicare for All. I would reply, “We do need Medicare for All, sir—are you going to make it happen for us?” I think I know a senator from Vermont—and maybe one from Massachusetts—who might be able to help you. Hint: they’re in the picture above
From Common Dreams: Sen. Chris Van Hollen argues that current efforts to patch up the health‑care system aren’t enough — saying the status quo is a “broken” system that needs a complete overhaul.
He’s calling for Medicare for All as the only real solution to put people’s health over corporate profits.
The other article warns that enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies are set to expire at the end of 2025 — potentially doubling insurance premiums for many Americans and pushing some millions into being uninsured.
According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities the enhanced premium tax credits that helped make ACA marketplace plans affordable for over 22 million people are scheduled to expire at the end of 2025 — a move that will cause health‑insurance premiums to spike sharply in 2026. With the center also reporting that If Congress does not extend those enhancements, many enrollees who currently pay modest or no premiums could face dramatically higher costs — or lose coverage altogether — as subsidies shrink or disappear.
The clock is ticking. Stop putting profits over people and trying to patch a broken system with duct tape and bailing wire.
I’ll end with this from five years ago, when the Democrats were once again choosing to abandon the Democratic socialist and his ideas—a serious clip about Medicare for All that might make you smile. Enjoy.
