I had to share this—one of the president’s goons telling someone, “This is what happens when you report on their illegal, unethical, and immoral behavior.”

This next video or image is far too common. It has been happening across this country under Trump and under an anti-immigrant tilt that has been coming for quite some time.
Did ICE just kill somebody? That guy is TOTALLY UNCONSCIOUS when they carry the body away! pic.twitter.com/pen6yjL5NM

To quote the familiar line: if these and other images we are seeing out of Minnesota and across the country were coming from a third-world country, we would already be discussing military options. Of course, because our thug president admires regimes run by fascist strongmen, he would do nothing.
In the video below, former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura discusses the United States’ descent into becoming a third-world country. We have arrived here not only because, as Ventura points out, we use our military to do policing, but because we are ruled by oligarchs who worship nothing but money. When Trump boasts about tariffs and “bringing back jobs,” he is talking about non-union, low-paid work. Is that what we want—or what we need? We need collective action now.

In terms of collective action now five major unions in Minneapolis—alongside community and faith-based organizations—are calling for a general strike and economic boycott on January 23, signaling a rare escalation in organized labor’s response to an intensifying federal crackdown in Minnesota.
According to reporting by Workday Magazine, unions including ATU Local 1005, SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, CWA Local 7250, and the St. Paul Federation of Educators Local 28 have endorsed the action, with organizers expecting additional unions to join. Faith in Minnesota and other grassroots groups are also participating, drawing on the state’s long history of coalitional labor and community resistance.
“We are facing a tsunami of hate from our own federal government,” Minnesota rideshare driver Abdikarim Khasim said while announcing the effort. “We’re going to shut it down on the 23rd. We’re going to overcome this.”
The mobilization comes amid a dramatic expansion of federal enforcement operations under the Trump administration. In recent weeks, heavily armed immigration agents have conducted raids at workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods across the Twin Cities. These actions have included chemical agents used on students and workers, mass detentions, and the killing of Minneapolis resident Renee Good during a January 7 ICE operation.
Rather than retreat, Minnesotans have responded with mutual aid, rapid-response networks, mass demonstrations, and now a coordinated shutdown effort. As organizer Bates Imari explained, the action reflects a broader “right to refusal”—a collective withdrawal of consent from policies that communities view as violent and illegitimate.
On Saturday, more than 10,000 people marched through South Minneapolis demanding ICE leave the state, underscoring the depth of opposition and the growing alignment between labor, immigrant rights groups, and community organizations.

This is the third consecutive day of student-led actions across Minnesota.
That’s now and January 23. You can participate wherever you are. This is not the end — rapid response networks and video teams have already been set up across the United States as ICE has ramped up, hired more agents, and provided even less training. With ICE’s deadly shooting of Minneapolis resident Renee Good and the ongoing federal enforcement presence in Minnesota, these attacks are only going to be more brazen in our own backyard. We cannot accept fascism in any form.
