In one of the scariest moments in modern history, we're doing our best at ScheerPost to pierce the fog of lies that conceal it but we need some help to pay our writers and staff. Please consider a tax-deductible donation.

A cartoon by the one and only, sadly but truly, Mr. Fish. It is vital for the times we are living in, and like much of Fish’s work, it is piercingly on point and brilliant. I say “sad” because imagine what a world this could be if more people saw the bullshit that happening around us and spoke out.

You need to read and share Fish’s larger unflinching article from his Substack, titled… F(ascism) YOU!, Mr. Fish delivers a sharp cultural and political critique of how fascistic tendencies can take root in a society that fails to scrutinize the laws and structures shaping everyday life. Rather than accepting the old adage that “laws are like sausages” and best left unseen, Fish argues that ignoring the mechanics of governance lets legislation harm those outside the power structure and suppresses dissent. He traces historical and political patterns showing how state power and propaganda work to marginalize organized resistance — including labor movements and democratic participation — while glorifying elite domination and maintaining social hierarchy. The piece urges readers to recognize and name these assaults on pluralistic democracy, rather than letting historical narratives and public memory be rewritten to justify unequal power and oppression.

But you should really also support Mr Fish’s work at his site The Independent Ink a site that champions independent journalism and free expression, blending personal essays, field reporting, and video podcasts to challenge corporate media, cultural complacency, and political authoritarianism. It draws on the spirit of alternative and underground press traditions to expose truths, provoke thought, and engage readers in open, uncensored debate about politics, art, and society.
Editor’s Note: At a moment when the once vaunted model of responsible journalism is overwhelmingly the play thing of self-serving billionaires and their corporate scribes, alternatives of integrity are desperately needed, and ScheerPost is one of them. Please support our independent journalism by contributing to our online donation platform, Network for Good, or send a check to our new PO Box. We can’t thank you enough, and promise to keep bringing you this kind of vital news.
