Just woke up to this in my inbox from the Haaretz feed, reporting on a post shared by Netanyahu. Words fail. But when confronted with genocide—and the propaganda used to justify more of it—silence is unbearable.
“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared a computer-generated image seeming to depict a nuclear explosion in central Israel, along with a text written by writer Yuval Bloomberg warning that Israel faces an existential threat from Iran and arguing that the country’s other political controversies are a distraction from the need to ‘finish the job’ against Tehran.
“The text warned voters that choosing a leader unable to ‘complete the mission’ could expose their families to the danger of a ‘second Holocaust.

“‘We have another two years of Trump to finish the job in Iran, and there is no way of knowing what will come after that,’ Bloomberg wrote, warning that Kamala Harris or ‘some Mamdani equivalent’ could succeed the U.S. president.
“The Qatargate investigations and the ultra-Orthodox draft were described in the text as ‘a giant smokescreen’ obscuring the Iranian threat.”
Netanyahu warns of a “second Holocaust” while presiding over what looks sounds and feels like the second Holocaust: the genocide his government has unleashed on Palestinians in Gaza. He invokes the horror of the past to justify more war while refusing to acknowledge the horror his own government is inflicting right now.
And what happens when he’s gone? For U.S. leaders, replacing Bibi offers a convenient way to declare a fresh start while continuing to arm and bankroll the same machinery of dispossession and mass killing. Change the prime minister, keep the weapons flowing, and let the settler-colonial project carry on. A new face won’t wash away the blood.
