Israeli Real Estate Agent

Mr. Fish
Mr. Fish

Dwayne Booth (a.k.a., Mr. Fish) is a cartoonist, freelance writer and ScheerPost regular who has been published in many reputable and prestigious magazines, journals and newspapers. In addition to Harper’s Magazine, his work has appeared in The Los Angeles Times, The Village Voice, Vanity Fair, Mother Jones Magazine, the Advocate, Z Magazine, the Utne Reader,, and various European newspapers. He has also written novels, screenplays, short fiction and cultural criticism collections, and several volumes of political cartoons.

  1. Mr. Fish does it again with a great cartoon. The tragedy in East Jerusalem, West Bank, and Gaza is a never-ending series of war crimes and human rights abuses. The Biden Administration will do nothing to curtail Israeli military action and illegal meddling in American politics. Biden and the Democrats are enablers of the worst kind of Israeli apartheid and Jim Crow criminality.

  2. Maybe we should call Israel’s Jim Crow policies “Chaim Crow.”

  3. Mr Fish is one of very, very few people who can write a 100,000 word article with just a drawing and a sentence and make you cry for humanity at the same time.

You are a national treasure, Sir.

  4. Scheerpost, you have iron ***, as this cartoon doesn’t pull any punches, or sarcasm: just be prepared for the Israeli lobby, as they are extremely insecure and try to undermine any critics.

    To the Israel lobby:

I meant to say this on another article, but when I looked at which countries are best prepared for climate change and the 21st century, Israel was at the top of that list. Israel has an arid climate and they are already extremely efficient with water and agriculture, something the rest of the world will need to learn. If it were not for their militarism and apartheid of the Palestinians, Israel could be a model nation in some respects for the world.

My understanding of psychology is such that those that have been abused often become abusive themselves. Israel was formed directly as a response to the Holocaust, and instead of learning compassion, they now harm the Palestinians while denying said harm. The Nazis at the Nuremberg trials tried to deflect the blame as well. It is ironic that the Israeli military-complex has become a more sophisticated version of the Nazis who persecuted the Jews in Germany. Is there any worse insult to the Jewish state, than to have reason to compare them to the Nazis?

  5. So true, so sad. No justice, no peace. Not for Palestinians, not for anyone. My government (the U.S.) is complicit. Shamefully, they are the enablers and benefactors of displacement and killing wherever they want to go, for whatever they want to steal, using whatever ruthless allies and mercenaries they want to use. So now there are at least two countries who regularly bomb, assassinate, displace, and steal at will, the U.S. and Israel. Some world order that is. It’s more like the Mongol Hordes. Play by our rules or die anonymously. At a minimum, Palestinians who have had so much taken from them deserve some missile defense from Israel’s weapons. The U.S. gave away their land and lied to them for decades, the U.S. owes them this. Why does Gaza not have missile defense long ago from the U.S. to protect Gaza lives and homes? If the U.S. wanted that lifeline for Gaza, it would have happened. But, no defense. That is how vicious my government is.

  6. We of American Indian Movement (AIM) stand with our brothers & sisters of Palestine against the neo-Nazi government of Israel! Nakba! End the Apartheid! As Indigenous to the land our two struggles for Justice, Peace & Return lands stolen, are the same! These are Crimes against Humanity: War Crimes! The USA is implicated! No justice, No Peace! Ajo 🦅

  7. Before this cartoon disappears into the archives, I thought it was a sharp depiction of consumer culture, too. You have well-off consumers stepping on others, in this case almost literally, to achieve their ideal lifestyle: this could apply to the environment or in this case, displacing other classes of people. Two diametrically opposed worlds are co-existing side by side, one almost oblivious to the other.

  8. Estate agents?
They must be near the top of the list for the most exploitative professionals.
