David Talbot: Uncovering the Secret American Government

The founder of Salon.com and author of several books examines the legacy of former CIA head Allen Dulles in post-World War II America.
Robert Scheer speaks with David Talbot, the founder of Salon.com and author of several books to discuss the legacy of former CIA head Allen Dulles in post-World War II America and his impact on both foreign and domestic policy.

David Talbot‘s most recent book, The Devil’s Chessboard: Allen Dulles, the CIA and the Rise of America’s Secret Government, delves into the life of the complex and, at times, ruthless former head of the CIA and the way he often worked in opposition to American presidents to reach his own personal goals. Talbot discusses why several mainstream media corporations refused to review his book. In addition, he goes into new information in the book that Talbot says supports the idea that John F. Kennedy’s assassination was a conspiracy and may have involved Dulles. Talbot also reveals how Dulles played a hand in trying to overthrow other foreign governments while undermining American authority.
