Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday signed a decree that ruled out any talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, declaring they would be an “impossibility.”

The decree was first put forward by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian newspaper Ukrainska Pravda, the decree states “the impossibility of holding negotiations with the president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.”

The move formalized comments that Zelensky made on Friday following Putin’s approval of annexing four Ukrainian territorites. “He does not know what dignity and honesty are. Therefore, we are ready for a dialogue with Russia, but with another president of Russia,” Zelensky said.

Responding to Zelensky’s move, the Kremlin said it would wait until he changes his position or until there’s a new president in Kyiv to hold talks. “We will now wait either until the incumbent Ukrainian president changes his position, or until there is another president in Ukraine who will change his position for the sake of the Ukrainian people,” Peskov said.

During his speech Friday, Putin said he was open to talks with Ukraine but said the status of the territories Russia is annexing is not up for discussion. “We call on the Kyiv regime to immediately cease fire and all hostilities; to end the war it unleashed back in 2014 and return to the negotiating table,” he said.

“We are ready for this, as we have said more than once. But the choice of the people in Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson will not be discussed,” Putin added.

The US has shown no signs of supporting a diplomatic solution and the Biden administration has no plans to back down on their support for Ukraine despite the risk of provoking Moscow.

  1. So, the Zelensky teams wants to milk this war as long as possible. They certainly profit greatly from it. Z has lost 20% of Ukraine forever due to intransigence, cowardice, or greed, but he has a nice house in Miami, so I am told.
I remember Ukronazi talk that the Russian-Ukrainians should “go back to Russia” if they don’t like Kyiv’s policies. The irony is that has just happened, as ‘Novorossiya’ is now Russian territory. Mohammed did not have to move the mountain, the mountain moved to him.

  2. “the Biden administration has no plans to back down on their support for Ukraine”

No, it is NOT support for the Ukrainian people but for the US-controlled, intransigent government refusing 8 years of attempts to seek a fair solution for the Russian-speaking minorities in Ukraine, sending men needlessly into battle by lying to the world.

  3. Take about blatancy – Z is a mouth piece for Wash – by stating openly what many have been saying for some time – that the aim of this whole shenanigan is “regime change” in Russia

Amazing – and our media, mainstream and otherwise, is just following along like imprinted ducklings …

    1. @SH
Are you sure that regime change is such a bad thing for Russia?
Less than 30% there now support the war.

      1. altey lies again…Putin 81% approval in Russia; Zelensky 30% approval in ukraine

  4. This whole situation is a mess, but I know that the Russians, Putin in particular, has planed to make the Ukraine part of “Holy Russia”, and to work for the destruction of the “evil and homosexual West”. He was saying that with Dugin, since before he was President for life!!

    1. Oh brother. Yeah, Putin’s gonna take over “the Ukraine” and kill all the guys. And that’s all you know. Boy is it ever.

    1. Yeah, the neocons strike again. They’ve been catastrophically wrong everytime, yet there they are.

  5. Ignorance and Stupidity fueled no doubt by the US and the money machine supporting the continued killing. Ukraine is being played a fool by the US and others as a Pawn to eliminate Russia’s sovereign interest in the long run. This is clear. History has proven NATO to be a back stabbing entity ever expanding into other nations. How would Washington like it if the shoe were on the other foot?

Who is the only country ever to use two nuclear bombs, to destabilize third world countries and put in puppet governments. To make deals and then re-neg. The strategy of Imperialistic Expansionism is set in stone and violative of all basic human rights and consequently a crime against humanity. The US has taken on the role of World Police at the expense of all of humanity. This must change NOW>

    1. @Edward William Case
Please do not underestimate Russia/USSR capacity to install puppet governments! The Red Army did it over half of Europe!
History has proven NATO to be an entity that nations are eager to join in order to be part of the Western World , the same with EU.
How many new candidates queue to join CSTO?

      1. altey lies hysterical—history has proven that US threatens nations that do not join w sanctions and bribes dictators installed by USA to join NATO/EU……those that do not suffer from US instigated denial of IMF assist, sanctions, etc—Serbia, Hungary Bosnia, Turkey are current examples

    2. E Case, altey promotes the CIA version of lies. USSR voluntarily withdrew from Austria and Yugoslavia; USA colonized Europe via NATO, EU…Warsaw Pact was created as a response to NATO…that EU and NATO are now disintegrating terrifies US ruling elites—NATO is largely funded by USA….nations that refuse to join are sanctioned tarriffs are imposed etc

  6. Zelensky another thug and pawn of Washington! Hero to the neoliberal class as he slaughters his own people, and Russians, and calls for the west to nuke Russia! Careful what you wish for elites, you may just get what you asked for!

  7. Then its about time the west cut this maggot off and left him to it. That is of course assuming that the government of the usa are not behind the whole thing!
